Is this a preview of the 2010 Audi TT-RS?

Is this the new Audi TT-RS? The same TT-RS is said to have a turbocharged 5-cylinder 2.5L engine that will produce approximately 350 horsepower?

Well, no, it appears that it isn’t according to reputable sites such as Autoblog and MotorAuthority. But perhaps, according to rumors, we’ll be lucky enough to get a glimpse of the TT-RS at Geneva. However, there is little left to speculate on regarding the capabilities of the ‘roided up TT with the RS treatment. As mentioned, the TT-RS will sport a highly tuned 5-cylinder forced induction engine mated to a 6-speed manual transmission or the optional and more attractive dual-clutch S tronic gearbox all coming together to put the 350 ponies down to all four wheels with the help of quattro all-wheel-drive.

Other RS treatments will include items such as flared wheel arches, a much larger front airdam to allow the beefier engine to breathe and likely 18 to 19 inch, light weight RS-spec wheels, perhaps the same wheels found on the current TT-S that also sports the same wheels found on the B7 RS4. At the rear, fans can expect to find the typical-RS dual oval tailpipes and an adjustable wing.

While there’s no definitive word on if the U.S. market will be lucky enough to see this RS model, our guess is that, depending on how the Audi TT-S sales fare, this may dictate whether the U.S. sees this car. Our opinion? Send it on over, the U.S. was already excluded from receiving the current hyper sedan/wagon RS6 so perhaps we’re over for a new RS car. If this does come state side, I’d anticipate a price of $55,000 to $60,000, fitting well above the TT-S model and just below the new RS4 model.

From everything we’ve found, it appears it will not come to the U.S. OR Canada, which is of course, disappointing. However, the closest item to compliment would be the Audi TT S Coupe. I guess with the economy, Audi isn’t taking chances on high cost, low production vehicles in markets that could be iffy on sales figures.
