Supposed RS4 Mule Spied

Word on the street( from Fast Lane Daily!) is this picture captures a 2012 RS4. In recent months, there have been many rumors circulating about a possible successor to the B7 RS4. The primary rumor has been that there will not be a a B8 platform RS4 possibly due to the fact that an RS5 coupe has been at the forefront of quattro GmbH’s minds as of late.

As a result, we’re prone to think this isn’t really an RS4 test mule. If you look closely at the picture, you can tell this is a facelifted C6 A6 sedan front the tail lamps as well as the overall size of the car. What should be noted are the bolted-on wheel arches. Interestingly enough, the arches don’t resemble that of the RS6 that carries the more boxy design at both front and rear arches. Also, the car clearly has Colorado state tags which wouldn’t make sense for a full RS model to be tested first in the U.S. before being caught undergoing heavy testing around Germany or at the very least Ingolstadt. That said, we’re thinking this is probably a test mule for a tuning group as the A6 looks almost entirely stock with the exception of the wheel arches and exhaust.

So what do you guys thing? Is this the real deal and some sort of secret RS or standard model test mule or is it just something like a tuning group’s car or an enthusiast gone too far?

Top Gear Reviews the RS6 Avant

Did we say Top Gear? We meant Top Gear…Australia. Either way, they’ve reviewed the world’s fastest grocery-getter: the Audi RS6 Avant.

The RS6 Avant is quite the grocery-getter as well! With 570HP being pushed out from a turbocharged ex-Lamborghini Gallardo V10, the RS6 definitely doesn’t disappoint in whatever task you throw at it. Whether it be taking the kids to school, running to the store, a ski trip or crushing an M5 Touring at a local track meet, the RS6 seems to handle anything and everything.

Autocar reviews the RS6 Avant

A certain recent post of ours upset a number of people regarding my appreciate, at a distance, of the S6 over the M5. While my objective was more a styling and everyday applicability appreciation, a bi-product of that post was that many felt, as I’m sure Audi and BMW intended, that a more suitable comparison is the Audi RS6 versus the BMW M5, despite the lack of presence of the RS6 in the United States.

Well, in the video I attached to this post, AutoCar reviewed the RS6 Avant, comparing it to the uber-sporty luxo barge segment king, the BMW M5 Touring. The review really does show the pros and cons of the RS6 in the everyday world. I’ll be the first to agree, the dry weight of the RS6 is unacceptable and beginning to teeter into the SUV realm compared to the somewhat more lithe BMW M5. Other things they didn’t like about the RS6 was the almost too subtle styling and borderline absurd horsepower and the lack of the DSG dual clutch gearbox. However, the easy of use and ironically, the power did win them over despite and drawbacks they found.

The results are surprising, though, so take a look!
